MOA’s 2024 Annual Meeting

On Friday May 17th, MOA held its annual meeting at the Sheraton Hotel in Needham.

Presentations included: AAOS update from our Board of Councilors, Physician Burnout, Physician Unionization, Panel on Syndesmosis Injuries and an update on what is happening legislatively in Massachusetts.

Bruce Leslie, MD Honored with the 2024 Orthopaedist Lifetime Achievement Award

     Dr. Bruce Leslie is a graduate of Brown University and a 1978 graduate of Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He trained at Tufts-New England Medical Center and completed a combined Tufts New England Baptist Hospital Hand Fellowship.

Dr. Leslie is the former chairman of the Government Affairs committee of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, a former member of the Board of Councilors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and past president of the Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association.

     Dr. Leslie has published numerous articles and book chapters. He has presented at many international, national and regional conferences and is a recognized expert in the field of Hand and Upper Extremity surgery. He also holds the distinction of having performed more distal biceps tendon repairs than any other surgeon in the country. Since 2015, Dr. Leslie has been named a Boston Top Doctor by Castle Connolly every year and in 2022 was named one of America's Most Honored Doctors by the American Registry.

     Our profession and the Association are privileged to have benefitted from Dr. Leslie’s contributions, and his leadership within the Orthopaedic Community. MOA is proud to honor him for his outstanding achievements and contributions.

2024 Research Abstracts

This year, we received an unprecedented number of research abstract submissions, setting a record for our annual meeting! Our selection process was guided by a commitment to showcasing a diverse array of research. To honor as many contributions as possible, 5 were selected for oral presentation and 13 for poster presentation. An award was presented in each category.
